About
A small institute that decided to do one subject properly
Sankhya means 'number'. We teach Mathematics, and only Mathematics, to students of Class 8 to 12 in Hazaribagh.
How it started
Sankhya began in 2017 with one rented room near Matwari Chowk and eleven Class 10 students, most of whom had already decided they were "bad at Maths". They weren't. They had simply carried three years of unasked questions into a board year.
We were teaching in general tuition centres before that, where a Mathematics class was often squeezed between Science and English and taught by whoever was free. That model works for revision. It does not work for a subject where every chapter depends on the one before it.
Nine years later we still run a modest operation on the second floor of Radha Complex. We are not the biggest institute in Hazaribagh and we don't try to be — batches are capped so that the teaching method below stays possible.
Why Mathematics only
A Mathematics teacher who also teaches two other subjects spends most of the week away from Mathematics. Ours don't. They set the papers, mark them, and see the same error patterns across dozens of scripts each week — that is where the teaching actually improves.
It also means we can say no. If a student needs Physics or English help, we will tell you plainly that we are not the right place for it.
What we don't claim
- We don't guarantee marks. Attendance and practice decide most of the outcome.
- We don't publish rankings we can't verify.
- We will tell you if we think a student is better served by a different kind of batch — including one that isn't ours.
Philosophy
Concept first, then practice, then proof by testing
- Step 01
Concept
The idea is built from an example before any formula is written.
- Step 02
Guided Practice
Students solve in class while the teacher watches the working.
- Step 03
Doubt Resolution
Every question raised that day is answered that day.
- Step 04
Weekly Test
A short topic-test measures what actually stuck.
- Step 05
Feedback
Step-marked scripts returned with what to fix next.
- Step 06
Next Topic
Only once the previous one holds up under testing.
Classes run Mon–Sat, 9 AM – 7 PM at 2nd Floor, Radha Complex, Near Matwari Chowk, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand – 825303.
